Value-stream mapping - is a lean-management method for analyzing the current state and designing a future state for the series of events that take a product or service from its beginning through to the customer. At Toyota, it is known as "material- and information-flow mapping" (This is selected as it comes under principle 2 of toyota way as stated in starting). this will help in removing bottle neck , will standarize the process , improve pull mechanism in the process.

Lean manufacturing or lean production, often simply "lean", is a systematic method for waste minimization ("Muda"). Muda is essential in toyota way . it also comes under principle 2 which focuses on just in time , kaizen and waste elimination.

Lean Six Sigma is a methodology that relies on a collaborative team effort to improve performance by systematically removing waste and reducing variation. It combines lean manufacturing/lean enterprise and Six Sigma to eliminate the eight kinds of waste (muda): Defects. Over-Production. Waiting.

The above step is choosen because it comes under principal 2 and principal 1 of toyota way. It is a long term strategy which has it impacts in future and the process becomes more defect free , stable and standarized .
