Question
1. Which option is the best location for placement of a surface electrode? 2. Which of the list below is the ideal location for placement of a reference electrode while recording EMG during gait? Why? a. b. c. d. Gluteus Maximus Proximal Clavicle Navel Plantar surface of the heel 3. Indicate which type of electrode (surface or wire) is best for each application a. b. C. d. Fine motor movements of the fingers while playing piano Gluteus maximus activation during a sprint Lower back activation during a heavy lifting exercise Supraspinatus activation during arm abduction otion Capture As a camera is moved closer to the subject of interest, the number of pixels that "see" the markers on the subject become increased/decreased (circle one). This will result in greater/lesser precision (circle one) of measurement and a bigger/smaller (circle one) capture volume. 1. Running will require a camera and corresponding force plate to record at a higher/lower (circle one) frame rate than walking. 2.Explanation / Answer
1. Answer is b
Why?
At the location of (b) electrode will get most of the muscle mass, so amplitude of EMG signal will be highest there, and that is needed for a perfect result.
Location c is also at the center but it is not suitable, because if electrode is placed here, there will be crosstalk ( emg interference from other muscle) from other muscles those are located near that region
In location a & d muscle mass is very less, received EMG signal amplitude will very litte if electrode is placed there.
So best location is b crosstalk free and highest EMG signal amplitude can be obtained from there.

2. Answer: Option b: Proximal clavicle
Referrence electrode is actually acts as ground for EMG system, so it si place in a muscle where electrical activity is minimal during that particular tesT. During Gait EMG testing all muscle of leg, thigh and abdomen active, Among the given option, during gait testing region there is minimal movement in proximal clavicle, so in proximal clavicle region, there is minimal muscle electrcal activity---> That is why proximal clavicle is best location for referrence electrode position.

3. Surface electrodes are used for muscle which are superficiallly located and wire electrodes are used for muscle which are deep and not accessible from surface.
a) Fine motor movements of finger while playing piano: Answer is wire electrode
( explanation: In this setup interosei and lumbrical muscles are tested . these muscle are deep muscle of hand and are not accessible from surface, to access these msucle wire electrode is needed.).
b) Gluteus Maximus: Ans is surface electrode.
[Explanation: Gluteus maximus is main mass forming muscle of buttock, this is asuperficial muscle and can be accessed using surface electrode ]
c. Lower back activation during a heavy lifting exercise: Answer is surface electrode.
[ Explanation: Lower back muscle which helps in heavy lifting ate hamstring muscle, gastrocnemius which are superficial muscles, so suface electrode can access them ]
d).Supraspinatus activation during arm abduction: Answer is wire electrode
[ Explanation: Supraspinatus is located deep to trapezeus muscle , so supraspinatus is not superficially accessible, so wire electrode is needed to access the muscle ].

Motion capture:
1. Increased[ nearer the object higher the resolution if features of the camera is fixed] , Greater [ as resolution will increase measurement will be more precise], smaller [ Neared the camera smaller the field of vision( capture volume)]
2. Higher ( as running will cause change of position quicker than walking, it will need higher frames to be captured to show the movement).
