Pharmaceurical supply chain is most complicated logistic process specially in Middle east because of theft and counterfeiting of drugs. To have a proper supply chain Pharmaceutical companies require a proper logistic service which can carry the consignment from one country to another across borders in a safe and efficient manner. For this to happen there should be proper collaboration between Pharmaceutical companies, logistic services and government authorities. There should be an efficient vigilance and security at the border so that counterfeiting of drugs and theft of drugs can be stopped. The person's involved in vigilance, security and regulatory affairs should be highly trained and educated in all departments. They should employ track and trace method by employing visual inspection, temperature controlled packaging, proper sampling, identifying batch number, manufacturing date, expiry date, name of drugs, amount of drugs,etc. If there is any weak link in this system then drugs can be easily counterfeited or robbed. All parties working in this supply system should have a common goal to supply the right product, at right quantity, at right condition, at right time to right patient. Technology plays an important role in preventing drug counterfeiting but nowdays people involved in duplicacy and counterfeiting are also well advanced and trained in copying the original and sometimes it is difficult to differentiate between the original and a counterfeit drugs. Therefore it becomes highly important to train and educate each staff, vendors and even customers to identify a counterfeit product. The safest route of this supply system is by roads which allow the truck to travel without delay or stops and the roads which have police vigilance. By this theft and counterfeit drugs can be prevented. Middle east have very few local production of pharmaceuticals and hence they rely heavily on imports of pharmaceuticals from neighbouring countries, but Middle east is also a point which is linked to places making counterfeit drugs and hence it becomes highly important to have an efficient pharmaceutical logisistic supply chain.
