Radio carbon or carbon 14 dating is widely used worldwide for determining the age of fossils and skeletons. it is not available all the time and in such cases examination of bones of the method used to determine the age of a skelton.
First observe the Skelton and remains around it. look into the growth and disintegration to determine the appropriate age .
measure the skelton if bones are missing use femur or thigh bone as it makes about quarter of body's entire length .so it can be used to calculate the approximate age of the skelton.
check the skelton teeth .if it has wisdom teeth the person was past the age of 18 years .if there is significant bones loss it means more advanced age .
bones fuse together as we age but the victims bones are not fused it means the victim is of lower age group .
if sagittal suture is completely fixed it indicates the age over 35years .And if coronal structure is fused it indicates the age is over 40years .
