Write a comment for the paragraph.
I think the problem with organ sales is the trafficking and the black market. Instead of getting organs legally many people choose to skip the list waiting and pay for the organs instead. I think trafficking and the black market is so popular because there are a shortage of organs being donated legally and used to save lives. I think the government can o somehting about this probem. Legal compensation for organ donation is denied, therefore many people only gove to their loved ones who are in need instead of helping to save others lives. Many people have to wait ntil someone dies to get an organ and only if the family gives permission or that person is an organ donor. I think it has not been solved because people believe that it should be a charitiable event, but the truth of the matter is that poor people and people in finacial hardships need money to survive. I think if the governement came up witha way to legally compensate those who donate it could up the amount of organs that can be used. The beneifts of this is that more organs will be available to save lives and those who donate can be compensated in some way. A cost of this would be people selling organs too often for money to do self harm with or people abusing the system just to get a check instead of working for money.
Explanation / Answer
Organ trade is the most controversial trade today. according to WHO, thousands of organs are sold and puchased worth millions of dollar. According to a statistics in the USA, an individual who needs organ for transplantation will wait up to 3-4 yrs before getting an organ. All this data leads us to a question is there really a shortage of organs, or this scenario could have changed by more rational approach by the government. The theory of rarety tells us, a price of any rare thing exponentialy increases, even though the thing itself is not extraordinary. This leads to the intense black marketing of organs especially from third world countries. If the government does not provide a legal compensation this scenario is far from change. One example is Iran, which made completely legal to buy and sell organs. Whether its good or bad policy is a debatable topic, but after 10 yrs of implementing this controversial policy there is no shortage of organs.
The stigma of people for black markets organs is so much that many die waiting legally. There should be a government regulation for adequate legal compensation for the donour, because if the recipent gets the organ legaly, easy and effectively he may not opt for black marketed organs. Ultimately choking the black market organ trade.
