1. The changes in membrane potential that vary in size, as opposed to being all-or-none are called Graded Potential. The summation of the individual actions of ligand-gated ion channel proteins arises the potential and reduces over the time and space. They do not involve in voltage-gated sodium and potassium channels. These impulses may be excitatory or inhibitory. Presynaptic neuron firing and release of the neurotransmitter takes place in skeletal, smooth, or cardiac muscle in response to nerve input causes the development of membrane potential at postsynaptic dendrites. Graded potential magnitude is determined by the strength of the stimulus applied.
