Reaction phase occurs in the first 48-72 hours. During this phase, there is pain, selling and redness around the damaged area. This phase is followed by regeneration phase which lasts for 6-8 weeks. In this phase, new tissues are laid down in the injured area along with the formation of new blood vessels and repair of nerve damage. The last phase is remodelling phase during which complete restoration of strength and function occurs. Undesirable effects like formation of scar tissue also occurs during this phase.
