Question
I need a discussion response to my peers post on questions we needed to answer
1) List one example of a personality test often used by Human Resources Departments.
One example of a personality test that Human Resource Departments use are ability tests. These types of tests test cognitive ability. Our text tells us that the two major types of this type of test include aptitude and achievement. The aptitude test portion will test innate capacity where achievement looks at learned capacity (Heneman III, Judge, Kammeyer-Mueller, 2015, p. 433). Cognitive ability tests measure the candidate’s abilities in memory, thinking, reasoning, and mathematics. Our text also states that these tests have some degree of validity epically for high complex jobs capacity (Heneman III, Judge, Kammeyer-Mueller, 2015, p. 436).
2) Do you think this is a sound recruiting technique? Explain why it is --or not.
Cognitive ability tests are said to be among the most valid and appear to generalize across all organizations capacity (Heneman III, Judge, Kammeyer-Mueller, 2015, p. 434). This makes this test easy to use and one good for the selection process. I think this type of recruiting technique is sound when you add in other recruiting techniques. You can’t simply rely on one test to tell you a person’s whole background but it does give you a good idea if they are capable and when to move forward with the interviewing process.
3) Have you ever had to take a personality test at time of hiring? If so, how was your experience. If not, did you wish you could have taken one to prove that you could do the job well?
Yes, almost every online application I’ve done had some sort of questionnaire regarding either personality or cognitive ability. I think this is very common and straightforward way to sort through potential candidates when you are looking for a potential candidate and have to go through many applications. I enjoy the online questionnaires as I think they also help the candidate see what the organization is looking for.

Explanation / Answer
I believe that personality tests are quite essential in today's world of business where the organizations need to know the employee is a fit for the organization or not and the role in which the employee will excel and from my personal experience I feel that the test is conducted to understand the mentality of the employee and the ability by which the employee considers a situation to be right or wrong. The personality tests can be of various types and the most popular one which consists of around 72 questions with option as either a Yes or a No and there will be same type of questions too, that is to understand the employee more and depending on the answers on each question the personality is judged. There is no correct answer they are just personal opinions that and employee may have. I feel that personality tests are almost on the verge of becoming mandatory and that is in order to make the recruiting process effective and better.
