1. The main challenges faced by the company in developing the International Hr strategy are- HR solutions should be consistent and flexible with local needs of different countries. Therefore, company adopted different strategies for different countries like UK’s performance review is linked with pay while in Netherlands and Finland it is connected with customer behaviour and competencies. It is difficult for Specsavers to adopt the strategies matching the local criteria, say in case of Netherland company has adopted job family system which fits the local culture of Netherland which is a major challenge faced by Hr team that even the solutions are not identical but should meet the local instances of every different country so that employees get motivated and work enthusiastically for the company. Specsavers also tried for generic standards of HR but later found challenges as the Generic model don’t fit into company’s unique ownership structure and stores set up in different locations. Although, It is very difficult for the management to handle different policies for different location but company has taken this challenge to move company to develop a more strategic overarching framework worldwide. This strategy is difficult to analyse even after implementation through customer feedback. Taking customer feedback is not easy to analyse at different locations.

2. Interest of the company overall can be balanced with those of different country locations as this international approach will take the company to another heights. Company with 20000 staff and 1500 stores worldwide running as Joint Venture facility in different locations need locations specific strategy. Company has realized the importance of International Hr Function which gives more competitive advantage and unique strategic platform for the company. To adopt local flexibility at HR operations at different locations can only result in more motivated employees and good functioning. Different cultures demand different strategies to excel in the work environment. Company realized this and chosen different strategy like UK performance based review as people in UK are more workaholic and try to achieve targets. While in Netherlands and Finland, pay is given on Behaviour and competency.
