Leadership Goals and Objectives for next 5 years:

To achieve any results, first the vision of leadership needs to be defined. What purpose needs to be achieved and what will be the method to work towards it should be laid out at the start. Realistic vision and the clear steps to achieve it have to be defined before planning any teamwork. Then the goals of each team member needs to be mapped in line with the vision defined.

2. Lead by example:

In order to make my team follow the processes and achieve excellence as per my directions, I need to motivate them by doing the same. I would start leading by example by valuing my time and their time. Equal importance will be given to each of my team members’ work which will encourage them to give their best.

If is show the never give up and keep striving attitude to achieve my goals, it would inspire my team to do the same. Instead of just monitoring the teams I will be working along with them to meet the deadlines which would drive them to excellence.

3. Self-driven optimism:

Being optimistic even in most dire situation will help to lift up the spirit of my team. In case of any tough scenario, keeping a positive attitude to follow your plan will drive the team to pursue process excellence. Whatever be the results or external factors, continuing to perform and strategise with a optimistic attitude to achieve the goals set will motivate the entire team.

4. Team empowerment and zero micromanagement:

For any leader to succeed, the team should succeed. No leader can work all alone and achieve success so he/she has to build the strength of the team so as to achieve the same targets as set by the leader. Each team member should be allowed to take their own decision so my goal as a leader would be to encourage my team to make their strategies to achieve the goal set and not be scared of failing. I would avoid all micromanagement of the processes so that in case any mistakes are committed, I would oversee the solution on how to overcome the issue instead of trying to make my team follow my methods from the beginning. It will help the team come up with new innovative ideas to improve on the processes to achieve the same targets instead of following the same old method which may or may not produce favourable results.

5. Setting own ethical principles and guidelines:

Having personal ethical guidelines will help to define the path which a leader needs to take to work towards his/her goals. Everyone will keep the work within the legal framework but apart from it, the general ethical boundaries can help to build additional guidelines of structuring processes. The team will be inspired to the follow the leader’s path only when they see the leader abide strictly to certain personal guidelines. The discipline and ethical guidelines will inspire the team to achieve excellence in their field.

6. Open communication relationship with team:

I would build an open communication relationship with each team member where any team member can approach me any time with their issues. When team member can communicate without fear, the problems can be nipped in the bud and issues can be resolved earlier which in turn will improve the quality of work. When the leader is easily approachable, it motivates team and builds better productivity.

7. Conflict resolution:

Conflict is a very common occurrence between a group of people and a leader should be able to keep the conflict among the team members to minimum. My goal would be to be able to resolve all the conflicts early with help of negotiations with the opposite parties so that the work is unaffected.

8. Appreciative and Rewarding Leader.

The goal is to give appreciation where due because even a small token of appreciation goes a long way in motivating the team. The need to achieve rewards creates a competition among the team mates which in turn improves the productivity with each striving to do better than the other.
