The points will only be rewarded to whoever puts the answer in a one paragraph summary.style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: arial, verdana, geneva, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: auto; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline !important; float: none;">
I do not want 10 pages copied and pasted from another website. That don't help.style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: arial, verdana, geneva, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: auto; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline !important; float: none;">

Explanation / Answer
The OSI data link layer defines the format of data on the network between the computers . Anysent through the network is made into a frame which takes place here. This frame is a uniform way of sending the data along with :-
1.address information
2. error checking capabilities.
Cyclic Redundancy check(CRC) is used for the error detection at tthe data link layer. If at the receiving end the Cyclic Redundancy check(CRC) fails at this level there is a request back to the sender for retransmission of this packet.
