Explanation / Answer

1.

Johannes Linden was selected as the director of Fluss Washer and Dryer (FWD) division he was accountable for the overall administration of the international business and was expected to preserve and maintain a global perception and viewpoint.

He was anticipated to be reactive and responsive to the local state of affairs thus with the development of the emerging market Linden decided to place in new market segments at different geographic locations.

However the overall intention of setting up Global Executive Committee (GEC) by Linden was to make available a decision making opportunity related to strategic and key investment decisions. Thus the overall objective was to concentrate on the operational issues, significant scheme and proposals and discuss about long term policies and approach. Furthermore it facilitated regional directors to gain knowledge from each other and get involved in international business strategy.

2.

GEC had been operational under Linden’s guidance and group associates where effectively interconnected. Linden kept everyone in the group well-versed with the state of affairs of the business, status of the financial goals, most modern progress and advancement, competitive and economic tendencies and regional directors shared information’s and recent developments in their regional operations.

However some regional directors sensed that Linden was a commanding administrator as he would himself make tough decisions before the GEC meetings and would only converse about the decisions at the meeting and this provided a thought of his stubbornness and because of his authoritarian kind of leadership approach regional directors did not feel comfortable sharing thoughts relating to framing international business policies and approach at the GEC meetings

3.

Cheap raw materials ensured considerable savings of around 10-15% thus Linden recommended amending goals and bonus composition and schemes however regional directors were not satisfied with the anticipated alterations. Thus Linden had the most important mission of motivating the regional directors to get engage in modifying the regional business goals and bonus schemes.

Furthermore regional directors gave an impression and intention of thinking only about what is excellent for their particular region and not for the business as a whole. Thus Linden had the foremost task in his hand of getting the GEC associates to open up and consider more about the business instead of thinking only about their own regions.

4.

Majority of the successful businesses are those which continue to be flexible and inventive and develop on the present accomplishment without constantly overtaxing their group associates. However it can be difficult to expect modernization and inventiveness but you can facilitate setting up a place of work that helps to attain them.

Business administrators to be effective should have a clear vision, recognize the team efforts and should have a clear view point of how personal hard work can show the way towards attaining significant strategic objectives. If executed properly administrators can help to create a tradition of constant improvement and development in business operations.
