Every time I open Microsoft Outlook, I immediately get an annoying dialogue box

Question

Every time I open Microsoft Outlook, I immediately get an annoying dialogue box that says, "The mail profile "Outlook" was created with a new version of Outlook and might contain information that is not compatible with your current Outlook version. If you experience problems with this profile, you can create a new profile. In Windows Control panel, open Mail, then click Show Profiles, and the click add." I have to click OK with this pop up. Hitting cancel closes Outlook.

Well, this is what happened. I had my computer fixed and the technician installed Office 2010. I got my mail using this version for awhile. Then, the 2010 trial ran out and I re-installed my old Office 2007. When I went to open Outlook mail, this pop up appeared. So, I created a new Profile using my e-mail address. But, currently, I have two "in boxes" in Outlook. One is under Outlook Data File and the other is under my added e-mail address.

Now, what do I do with this mess? I can read my email in the inbox under my e-mail address. That is fine. But the Outlook Data File Inbox should be deleted. How do I do this? And how do I get rid of this annoying pop up, when I open Outlook?

Thanks for your help,

Explanation / Answer

What kind of email account is configured in this profile (POP or Imap)?

If it's Imap - you can't delete the Outlook Data File since it contains the default folders for contacts/calendar etc so having 2 PST files is the norm.

If it's POP - what you need to do depends on how things are configured in terms of which of the two PST files is set to default etc. Rather than go through all the options - will wait for a response since it really sounds like you have your email account configured to be an Imap account.
