Question
My Mac Book Pro won't let me open Microsoft Excel on it for the past few days.
Ive got Office Mac 2011 installed and i bought my laptop in 2011, and it has all of the updates that my laptop has told me to get as far as i know.
I can still use Word thank goodness but it just won't open Excel for me
It said: Check with the developer to make sure Microsoft Excel works with this version of OS#X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS#X.
But i used the CD i had to install it and re-installed it and i didn't change anything
What should i do????
Explanation / Answer
I'd suggest that you first verify that you actually do have Office fully updated. Go into your Applications folder then into the Microsoft Office 2011 folder. Right-Click the Excel application icon & select Get Info to see what version is specified -- 14.4.1 is current.
Also, run Apple's Disk Utility to repair disk permissions on your HD followed by a Restart of your Macc#.
For future reference :)) never 'reinstall' Mac Office over an existing installation. Doing so may cause more problems than it can cure. Issues normally arise from problems with user-specific files which aren't touched by reinstalling because those files are not included on the source media. If a reinstallation is called for, a proper & full Removal of Office must be done first.
