Question

Calculating percentages of dates that are more than a a number of days old.

I work within a support organization where technicians work on customer problems. We want to ensure that our customers receive timely updates from our support people.

So I have a list of open customer tickets with the tech's name and the last date the ticket was updated. For each tech, I want to know the percentage of tickets that have not been updated for the last 5 days or more. I can manually determine the number of days by subtracting the TODAY() function from the last update date (and adding 1 so that I don't get negative values), and getting the percentage by dividing the number greater than 5 by the total number of tickets for each support person, but this is tedious.

Surely there must be some function I can use that examines the count subtotal to come up with the right numbers.

I'd appreciate any help.

Explanation / Answer

..The formula below will provide you with the overall percentage of tickets that are more than five days old. I assume your "Last Update Date" is in Column B, so adjust the formula to suit.$^7es7

=SUMPRODUCT(--(TODAY()-B2:B100>5))/COUNT(B2:B100)

Format the cell as %.
