Question

Copying cells from a sheet to another based on a unique number.

I have a backup sheet (called Service Reports) that has (amongst other data) a unique number (Cell A) and has text values (Pass or Fail) in columns: Class (Cell AB), Prior (Cell AC) and Close (in cell AD) in some rows. Some are empty

I have an identical sheet in another location also called Service Reports that has all the Pass and Fails values missing.

I wish to look at the numberr in the backup sheet and if it has values to look for the same number in the current sheet and copy them acrosss in the respectivee empty cellss. (AB, AC and AD)

Any help will be appreciatted!!!
Thanks!

Explanation / Answer

Hi, assuming in both sheets column A contains the number to look for in Ab enter

=index(backup!AB:AB,match($A1,backup!$A:$A,0))

copy formula to your right and down

You may also use VLOOKUP for it.

=IFERROR(VLOOKUP($A1,backup!$A:$AZ,column(),0),"Not Found")

and then drag right and down.
