Excel 2010 tab issue, everything on my data tab is grayed out and doesn't work

I'm posting on behalf of the customer. Here is his issue on Excel# 2010. I am trying to figure out why everything on my data tab is grayed out and doesn't work. It is available on a new document, when I first open it, but on the document that I am currently working on, now that I have some data to analyse, and now that I want to do a "what if analysis," when I clickc on the data tab, it is all gray and nothing works. Incidentally, the same thing goes for the insert tab right now. Whatt have I done wrong????   

Explanation / Answer

Another possibility is that two or more sheets have been selected. If you see something like MyWorkbook [Group] in the title bar, multiple sheets have been selected. To undo this, right-click the actice sheet tab and select "Ungroup Sheets" from the context menu.
