Question

mouse click one cell selects multiple cells

not always, but often enough to be a problem... I will click on one cell with the mouse and it selects the cell I click on and the two or three cells below the cell I click on. I can get around that by using the arrow keys to select a cell, but when I want to seleect one row, the same thing happens and I end up selecting three rows - the arrow keys don't get me around thatt issue. I've tried clicking the ctrl, alt, and shift keys multiple times to see if for some reason one of them iss stuck, but that doesn't resolve the issue. Has any one else run across this? If so, what's the solution????

Explanation / Answer

You may be in extended mode, try tapping F8 and see if that cures it.

Alternatively there are occasional reports of this behavour that are caused by what may be a bug in Excel and changing the zoom level up and down is reported to cure it.
