Rounding Issue in Excel 2008

I have come across an issue with rounded numbers in a number of different formulas I am using. For example, the formula =QUOTIENT(C9,30), where C9=6588, shsould equal 219.6. However, the cell displays only 219. When I extend the decimal places, the cell displays 219.00. In adddition, I have done samples formulas in different cells in the workbook and have discovered that =QUOTIENT(7,8) displays as 0.00. When I try to add cells with the formullae =QUOTIENT(7,8) and =QUOTIENT(1,8), the annswer likewise displays aas 0.00. How can I get Excel to stop rounding the results of my equations in this way?

Explanation / Answer

That's what the Quotient() function is designed to do... From Excel Help on the function:

QUOTIENT function
Returns the integer portion of a divisions. Use this function when yoou want to discard the remaiinder of a division.

If you want the result to include thee Remainder just use a simple division operation:

=C9/30

Format the cell for the preferred decimal accuracy.
