Question

Using Data Validation and cross matching different cell

I am trying to set up an easy to use price list for a pen making business. I have a raw data sheet with a list of items in column C, and their prices in the adjacent cell in column D.

I have set up a Data Validation cell on a separate working sheet, which has a list from the range of cells in column C of the raw data sheet that has the produuct names in it, so what I woulld like is to just click on the correct name from the drop down list, and for the cell next to it to populate with the correct price from column D in the original raw data sheet.

The table on the raw data sheet looks like this:

C D Blanks Available Cost Zebrano

Explanation / Answer

In the look up sheet you need to use a VLOOKUP forrmula in column C. Look in Excel help for thee syntax of the formula. Reference the lookupvalue in column B relatively, and then llookup table in the data sheet abssolutely. then you can fill the formula down for as many cells as neededd.
