Project Successes:

We distributed each part equally and assigned responsibility in advance.

Work was split based on the strengths and weaknesses of team members.

Everyone was responsible and the response time improved.

Everyone met the deadline even though we decided to finish all week 11-12 assignments by week 11 so that we can have enough time to study for the final exam during week 12.

Everyone was willing to help each other.

Project Challenges:

Compared to the previous weeks, we had a relatively short time to finish all given assignments.

Communication could and should have been better.

The effort of each work was different, so the quality was affected.

Lessons Learned:

Micromanagement is important to get all work done properly and perfectly.

All team members should review the entire document at least once.

Recommendations:

All team members should put as much effort as possible to get the better result.

Communication should be done in a timely manner.

Explanation / Answer

A successful project management requires a project team that creates value more than the sum of its parts. Here the project team members complement each other and build a strong team culture with shared assumptions. It not only helps the team to resolve problems by doing informal discussions, but also it helps the project to achieve its objectives. Hence, a good project team is very important for the successful completion of the project. Further, there should be clarity in the command pattern as project team can be formed by the drawing of resources from different functions in the organization. Hence, there should be clear command and key responsibility areas to prevent ambiguity among the project team individuals. Besides, an achievement based, time specific milestones should also be planned to complete the project on time. Here the practice of earned value management is particularly helpful in assessing the development of the project on a real time basis. Therefore it is not only planned aspects of the project, but also it is the practical challenges in the project that should be anticipated in advance.
