better way to filter data to other sheets?
Hi
I have a master list of name and addresses
suppose I filter this list on a specific field say city/
so I filter the list on New York City then copy the results to a new sheet called New York City/
then I go back to the master list and filter on Washington DC and copy the results to a new sheet called Washington
and I do this for about 10 different cities so I have 11 tabs; the master tab of all names and addresss, then 10 separate tabs of names and addresses for the specific filtered city/
that's quick but my master list gets more and more names every day....so each day I have to delete the pasted filtered results in each of the 10 tabs,. then recopy and paste the filters 10 times to each tab so I have an updated list.
is there a better way... I don't think pivot tables is the answer?? as I am not really summarizing anything??

Hi..
Actually, pivots will be quite useful in your case. You just make pivot on sufficiently large number of rows till which data come in future.
You just need to make one pivot..
Copy the same pivot on 10 different tabs,,
Apply the filter on those 10 pivots. And also remove blanks by deselecting..
If you have copied the same pivot on different tabs, you just need to refresh one and all 10s will be updated..
