This question involves using your critical-thinking skills to describe the impact of time management in the workplace. Managing our time effectively in the workplace is very important. We all have a job to do, and we must be very timely while completing our tasks. Most of the time, we work with others or for clients, and they depend on us to complete the work. And, that is why using time-management techniques is beneficial to us. For this question, write a brief essay that describes what is likely to result from two instances within a workplace: (a) using time-management techniques and (b) not using time-management techniques. Within the brief essay, include workplace examples to support your message.

Time-management plays a very important role in the success of the organizations. In today’s highly competitive business environment, time is a key differentiating factor between the product or service offerings of companies and therefore, it the responsibility of each member of the organization to value and respect time and implement common time-management techniques to ensure the work assigned to them is delivered or completed within the desired time limits. There are two scenarios that arise when companies use time-management techniques within the workplace and when they do not use time-management techniques. These scenarios are discussed below:

Using time-management techniques:

In organizations, most of the projects are time-bound and have strict project deadlines. The employees that gives utmost importance to time and complete their work in timely manner directly or indirectly contribute to the growth of the organization. For example, a company bidding on a project through an RFP (Request for Proposal) must ensure that the RFP is submitted within its deadline and therefore, the pre-sales team responsible for preparing bid must comply by the time limits. When time-management techniques are utilized by the project teams, they are able to win projects for their employer resulting in the company’s as well as their own growth.

The e-commerce companies are expected to deliver products in a timely manner to their customers and therefore, when the time-management techniques are used by the companies operating in the e-commerce domain, they are able to build a competitive edge for themselves and a positive customer satisfaction and retention.

Not using time-management techniques:

For companies that fail to value time and incorporate time-management techniques, stands at a point of loss against their competitors and loss of existing as well as prospective customers owing to negative word of mouth publicity. From the marketing point of view, not taking the advantage of the critical times, companies may fail to create a buzz for themselves. Take the example of a social media firm. Everything on the social media happens on a real-time basis and therefore, if a company is not able to run a successful campaign during the time when it matters the most (when the buzz is highest for a certain news, trending hashtags, etc.), it stands at the verge of losing out to other competing brands and staying behind in the trending race. The people working in these companies must be very careful in their time management and in taking help of the available time-management techniques.
