Your grandmother lives in Miami, Florida. One of her friends has Skype and talks to her grandchildren on it. Now you grandmother wants Skype even though she doesn't have a computer and has only used a computer once or twice. What would it cost to get your grandmother everything she needs so that she can talk to you on Skype. If you don't already have Skype, what would you need for your computer? Please include all costs involved - the whole family is going to contribute their share so don't leave anything out. This should be written as a letter to "Grandma", explaining any terms she may not know.Explanation / Answer
Dear Grandma,
Today is your birthday :).I hope it is been wonderful so far.Last time we spoke, you told me that your friend is using skype to talk with their grandchildren. So we decided to buy a new system to use skype to interact with us. The system will cost around 160$ and all our family members decided to contribute to buy that system.So here I am sending you how to install the skype in your system.
steps to be follow :
(a) Set up a computer
Clear the storage and remove most of software , take as many icons off the desktop as well as possible and try to keep it down to the Skype, Office & your choice of the browser. All the extraneous manufacturer on screen docks & tool bars must be deleted.
(b) Set up the Skype
The first thing that need of a Skype account. Set Skype up beforehand. If you are start up the program to find that they already have an amusing name like Grandma complete with amusing profile picture, after that you might even get a giggle & remember, giggles buy you more attention span & more attention span is what you will need to complete this task successfully.
Tick the box on front end of the Skype to automatically sign in the moment, open the program & you can even set it to start up as soon as computer logs on as well all in the same place at sign in screen.
Next move is to make sure that Skype window is maximised. If you leave this like that when you close it, it will be same way every time you open the program. Naturally,you will hit the wrong button at some point up in that top right corner but the good thing about Skype is that minimising and closing basically do the same thing. There is no need to explaining how to shut down Skype at any point.
(c) Populate their contacts lists
Something which can be done on your own time is adding a list of contacts to your account. Get all the family members are added, making sure that they accept the requests at the other end(accept your skype request).If anyone tries to be friend on Skype, that they can just ignore the friend request. Just write that tip down
& you will know what to do at that time. Ultimately, that will either work out as pressing the 'Ignore' button. what you won’t do is click "Accept" and that is what counts.
(d) Check the settings
Have a quick play with your Skype account. There is no need to add many profile details , just a picture if you like , but do head into the 'Options' under 'Tools'. Check that the call, video and the microphone settings are work. Do not bother with headset. Keep to what is built into laptop and check audio settings are at a decent volume level or not.If it is fine,otherwise set volume at average level and don't use high volume,it is harmful to your ears.
Now, head to "Privacy" area & make sure that no one other than the known contacts can call, video call to your account. Test it all again from the boot, make the test call to check & you should be done.

Step 1:: Picking the right time
You are probably at your most willing to listen in the mid-morning. There is no good telly on that you are going to miss and you are unlikely to clash with The Archers either.Other advantage is that you are less likely to be tired at this point in the whole day and probably more willing to give the things a go. So,perhaps check with first, then brew some tea for you and even bring in a plate of sliced up Mars bars to keep blood sugar nice and high.
Step 2:: Powering up
It is tempting to start explaining all the sorts about Windows (or) Mac OS when it pops up on screen but do not. You will only be eating through some of that precious attention span & probably wiping out that how much in total you will get anyway by adding some confusion here & there. Effectively, you will be burning the candle at both ends. Avoid this. Stick to plan & say that you will be happy to field any of your non-Skype related questions after main task. They will appreciate structure.
-> The first is press on button. Make sure that they take note of positioning & get them to press it themself. It is a practical lesson not demonstration.
It is probably worth mentioning that booting up take a while. Obviously do not use work 'booting'. It might be best to tell you to wait 60 seconds (or) so before returning to machine to make sure that the everything has loaded that needs to. We do not want hour glasses & spinning wheels to start confusing issue.
What you need to do is do by using the mouse(touch pad). Sounds silly and obvious but you might not have done this before. Whatever you choose, tell you have to ignore the right click button.
You are going to ignore anyway, so do show you what happens when you right click and how to get out of this when an little menu pops up. Beyond this, just work on moving the cursor around and left clicking on the things here are there. If you want, you do not even have to bother with the double-clicking. If you pin Skype program to the Taskbar , then it is a simple one click operation to fire it up. Otherwise, create an desktop icon.
Step 3: Making a call
Ok. This is the moment you have been waiting for. First up, you need to explain the difference between status icons. It makes things seem more confused might think you're talking about a luxury yacht (or) something.
Click on the drop down by the green tick next to your name in top left and show how you can change between Away, Busy & Do Not Disturb. It is also worth pointing out what Offline looks like but no need to worry about the Invisible. They will ask but fob them off until you decide to the come back for advanced lessons.
That is all sorted, it is time to make a call. Again, it is probably best to avoid the double-clicking. Instead, get you to click once on the person you are after in the left pane to make sure you are highlighted and then click 'Video Call' in the main panel. It actually does not matter whether you go with Call (or) Video Call but pick one and fixed to it.
The red phone icon is to hang up. The one which is next to person’s name on the contacts panel on the left side is probably the easiest place to do this.
All are sorted, it is time to make a call. It may be "audio call" (or) "video call".
