Biometrics is basically used for authenticating or identifying a person based on his/her physiological or behavioral characteristics. information technology is nothing but use of computers, computer hardware, computer software storage devices etc. With increased use of computers there is a need to restrict access to one's personal data for safety and security purposes so some sort of identification system is required that is hard to break and in such cases biometric techniques play a bigger role to provide protection and access restriction. Its a recognition system that scans retina, speech, signatures etc.The main point to understand is that the person should be phsically present at the place of identification. its used to provide any sort of frauds or criminal activities.
Information needs to be secured over a computer network.Its very important while making transactions online especially. Security over computer networks is very essential here biometrics is used in transaction conducted online through internet(e-commerce)
