I need a short feedback for those two comments in separte:

1:

(Are there some industries in which a parallel process would not be possible or effective?

Some industries in which a parallel process would not be possible is in small product design change which leads to change in large process design changes. In this case, it would be wise to have a product design completely finished before process design commences. I worked for an injection molding and 3D printing company, where this was helpful in many small design changes.)

2:

(Consider a group project you have worked on at work or school. Did your group use mostly sequential or parallel processes?

Most group projects that I have worked on at school have been parallel. Different things are getting done at once in order to expedite the process. Using a sequential process where everyone just works together can be effective, but is better suited for different scenarios.)

Explanation / Answer

1.: Parallel process helps the organisation in utilisation of available resources ( man,machineries) most effectiveley. Based on the change in demand and requirement they can switch the process. In certain industries parallel process is not possible because of change over cost , time required for machines to install or run parallely. This may also affect the overall productivity because of lack of proper operations management. In industries like moulding, shop metals etc it is possible in processes like 3D printing and inject modelling where machine or process change over is much easier to manage.

2:Group project in school level would be difficult to co-ordinate due to lack of experience . Students would have different opinion for same task and for that to work under one team for single objective can be difficult. Many would prefer parellel process and they will split the work among themself, finaly they will collate and will submit. This will not get the team effort result because the students would be knowing only the part which they have done.
