a)

Based on the Gantt chart, following is the present situation of the production schedule.

AAA Sdn Bhd is ahead of schedule as the arrow shows production has reached that of day 16 approximately while today is day 14.

BBB Enetrprise is behind schedule as it seems to have reached production of day 10 and is behind by 4 days.

CCC Trading is exactly on schedule as the arrow is on today’s date of production.

DDD Sdn Bhd is way behind schedule as it’s production has only reached day 5 which is 9 days behind schedule

XXX Enterprise is way ahead of schedule and actually has finished its production batch.

b)

i.) In this scenario, an additional 4 days are available for production for DDD Sdn Bhd and the lag is approximately 4 days if we remove the slack and continue straight from stamping out parts to Assembly and then straight to painting. This should ensure that toys are ready for delivery on Day 25.

ii) If work is stopped for 2 days in AAA Sdn bhd, the production schedule will stay unaltered as AAA Sdn Bhd was 2 days ahead earlier.

iii) XXX Enterprise – If XXX starts production on the second batch immediately, they will be able t o complete the batch by day 25 if the slack is removed and continuos production is maintained.

iv) With all the 3 above scenarios combined, the effect on Inventory would only be felt in the case of XXX Enterprises as a new batch needs to be scheduled immediately. AAA does not affect inventory at all as no change occurs. DDD Sdn Bhd is delayed in production originally and so parts would still be in Inventory.
