Question
You have been working as a software engineer in IT department in the Boston office of a major investment company Invest Now Inc. (INI). Because of your great performance you have been "promoted" to lead an existing project X in the San Francisco office of INI. This is a large project involving several teams of few dozen engineers located in several sites in US and a contractor company in India. The contractor company in India has been used by INI on two other projects over the past four years. You are taking over the project exactly one year from its inception. Bad news is that the project is three months behind schedule and 20% over the budget. As an intelligent professional you can guess why you got this job and why the previous lead has been fired. You know nothing about the project. Before taking the job what questions would you ask? To whom would you address these questions? Identify the issues you would have to address concerning all aspects of your new project. What issues would you resolve with your teams and the contractor company in India? What would you propose/ask from the upper management who put you on this task? (30 points) oanaoe has erh mon can g ins ousCon2Explanation / Answer
The Answer for your question is given below clearly below:
1. Considering the situation given to me as I am a software engineer and I am taking over a project exactly one year from its inception and the bad news is that the project is three months behind the schedule and 20% over budget.
2. As a new person in to that project i dont know anything about the project and before taking the job the question i would like to ask is Firstly i will address my question to all the team members in that project.
3. And the questions for the team members are Firstly i will ask the Architecture of that project and also why the project is delayed three months? and also what are the problems that caused in delaying the project?, How many hours every tem member is working on the project?, hiw much effort every team member is putting on the project?.
4. some more questions are what is the team size? and how many main resources are available in the project?, how many people are billable resources available in the project? because the project is gone over budget by 20% so based on this answer i will decrease the number of resources available in that project and only less amount of team will work for more that 12 hours a day to complete the project in time.
5. so i will ask all the above questions to team mebers in the project and then i will identify the issues that are available in the project from the questions i asked above in all aspects of the project. and i will give necessary solutions for the team members and also with the contractor company in india. and also i will ask the contractor company in india to work for more no of hours to complete deeadlines of the project.
6. I will have a daily scrum call with the contractor team in india to track their daily status and also proper communication will be made with the team in india. and The issues i will resolve with my team members is i will ask them first what is needed to complete the project with in specified time
7. what i would like to ask the upper management is that provide some extra money or salary to the team members because they are working more number of hours to complete the project in time and if we provide more salary to team members then they will put more time and effort in completing the project in time.
8. And also I will talk about the infrastructure that is needed for the project with my upper management who put me on this task.
Hope This Helps, if you have any doubts Please comment i will get back to you, thank you and please thumbs up
