You have been asked to set up a Database that can be used by the Office of Personnel to hire the minimum number of faculty necessary to teach all the courses that need to be taught. DESCRIBE in ENGLISH what issues must be dealt with to come up with a GOOD data base design given this situation. Example Classes to be Taught 100 healing 150 budget balancing 200 summoning 250 spouse forgiving 300 transformation 350 cooperative problem solving 400 Programming Example Applicants Killary Hinton can teach 250 ld Drump can teach 150 ith Tookey can teach 350 and 400

Explanation / Answer

In this situation we need to setup the database efficiently otherwise there might be multiple anomalies will be occur like update and delete anomalies.

Because of this we must design database efficiently. I.e.

We need to design entity for classes and the instructors

As mentioned in the above question we need not to store the class names with the instructor information then we may need to store same instructor info multiple times this leads to anomalies. So in that case now we must store the instructor information with classes.  

In that case each class will be different and the instructor might be the one who can teach other subject as well. We need to connect course table instructor attribute as foreign key to the instructor table instructor attribute.  

So clearly for this database the tables and attributes are defined below.

Instructor :-

Ins_id, Ins_name, Ins_phone....

Classes :-

Class_id, Class_name, Instructor_id...
