Considering public opinion and how PR professionals attempt to influence it. Do you think it is becoming easier or more difficult to change public opinion? Why? If you had to influence public opinion on an issue in your town or region, how might you go about it? What techniques would you use?

In my opinion and observation, it is becoming easier to influence the public opinion. There are many more tools available and methods which can be leveraged to create a perception among the public which may or may not be true. This is done across the world especially during elections and mass public events like referendums, voting, etc.

The tools that are being used by PR professionals to shape and influence public opinion are as follows:

Question 2: Corporation vs. Agency

For PR professionals, describe one difference between working in a corporation and working in a public relations agency. Based on what you read, would you prefer to work for a corporation or an agency? Why?

A PR professional working in a corporation has certain job responsibilities and boundaries within which the professional has to work and achieve results. There is more transparency and checks and balances on the means and methods that are used for creating public perception or other such public-facing events. On the other hand, however, in a public relations agency, there are no defined boundaries as the targeted content maligning an individual can from any source, so the challenging content has to be created or sourced using whatever means and tools. Therefore, there are limited checks and balances and a little transparency on how certain objectives are met.

I would prefer to work for a corporation as I prefer to work in a corporate culture where there are more transparency and ethical standards for shaping the public opinion.
