Question

Q# 01:-A 56K Modem gives us the maximum uploading rate of 33.6Kbps butmaximum downloading rate is 56 Kbps from an ISP. Why is there somuch difference in uploading and downloading rate? Is there someway to increase the uploading speed as well?[5]

Q # 02:Find downloading speed of Cable modem if 32QAM demodulationtechnique used? [5]

Q # 03:-What are the light sources for optical fiber?[10]

Explanation / Answer

Ans 1. when we download from 56k modem, data is changing from a digitalsignal to an analog signal. Digital-to-analog conversions are perfectly accurate, sodownloading at speeds up to 56K is possible. While uploading, datais changing from an analog signal to a digital signal.Analog-to-digital conversions are imperfect, so noise is introducedinto the signal which in result decrease the band-width foruploading. Ans 2. The downloading speed of cable modem for 32 QAM is 1280 kbps ( TDMA) Ans 3. Single-mode fibers, ones with smaller cores uses infraredtransmitted from laser light. Multi-mode fibers, ones with larger cores uses infrared transmitedfrom LED.
