Question
This is a Scenario, that I am supposed to answer as a homeworkassignment. I need help. I don't understand. Here is the scenario: Evco Insurance, a multimillion-dollar life insurance firm, hasasked you to help troubleshoot the 100BASE-TX network at itscorporate headquarters. The network manager admits that he has notkept very close tabs on the network's growth over the last year, and he thinks this omission has something to do with the congestionproblems. The Marketing Department which is experiencing the worstnetwork response, has added 40 people in the last six months tomake a total of 146 people. Because of the quick growth in staff, some computers were taken out of storage for use by Marketingpersonnel. At some times during the day, the marketing director hascomplained of waiting five minutes before one spreadsheet can besaved to the server, and his computer isn't even one of the olderones. He shows you to the telecommunications closet that serves thetrouble department. Inside, you find a stack of eight expensive newhubs, blinking away. Before you have the opportunity to take acloser look two or three potential causes for the network's poorresponse time come to mind. What are they? This is Case project 5-1 in chapter 5 on page 282. Thanks to anyone and everyone who can and will help me. Ireally appreciate it. This is a Scenario, that I am supposed to answer as a homeworkassignment. I need help. I don't understand. ->Many users will stop a hub dead with collisions. As far athe two blinking collision lights unplug thse cables and replugthem back in at different times.->The rebroadcast timers are in sync with each other. ->They need to dump the hubs and replace with 10/100 oreven Gigabit switchers. ->That will get rid of some of the collisions. Also, makesure that all the computers have at least a 10/100 NIC if not aGigabit NIC also. Also check to make sure that the ethernet cablesare true CAT-5 or 5E so that they can carry that fast signal. Allcables should have 8 wires. ITS HELPFUL TO YOU.........
