You are the manager of a department in a large firm. While checking your Facebook page, you noticed a post by one of your employees which was made public and liked by one of your friends. You visit your employee's facebook page to discover that she has posted some pictures and comments that revealed more about her than you wanted to know. Her views, interests and activities show a different side than what you have known. While this side of your employee did not seem to interfered with her job performance, you fear that her public image as portrayed through her facebook page may send the wrong message to other employees, clients, and the public in general. What would you do as a result of this information? Would you terminate the employee citing company image as the reason for her termination? there are some areas which called as personal, till the issues or information does not damage the reputation of others, till the time no one disturbed with that, no one suffered with this, there wont be any problem. when we noticed or known that some one is strugled or suffered with these kind of actions or particulary with this kind of information, an action must be taken to resolve these.
in this case, an employee is sharing information about her self and her working enviroronment and about her organization. where some of negative comments receiving from other end. with these kind of actions the reputation of organization do not lost. it builded by years together, by working many of the people with many efforts. so, it is better to leave the issue as it is.
if it comes really serious, and if i think this information definetely effects the firm reputation, then i will call the employee personally, and put the same to her. i ask explanation from her side, and inform her do not repeat it again. also i explained the consequences with this kind of messages and posts. as employees, we must work for the well being of our firm, but not destroying this. if you really do not feel well, just leave the place and search a better place to suit your interest.
the last one is, i forward or inform the same to my superior and seek their suggestion what next.
