Question
-----------------In need of help with the following--------------------
Please make your response very detailed, yet brief for each question.
Ch6
1) Imagine you were the CEO of a major company. What approach to global competition would you choose for your firm: international, multinational, global, or transnational? Why?
2) If you had entered into a joint venture with a foreign company but knew that women were not treated fairly in that culture, would you consider sending a female expatriate to handle the start-up? Why or why not? (Note: For this question, keep in mind that I am a female)
Explanation / Answer
1) I would like to create a global company rather than an international, transnational or multinational company. A global company has operations in other countries but it has standard processes, cultures, and practices all over the globe to make it a truly integrated company. An MNC does not have global integration and all its operations in different countries act as separate entities. An international company is only into imports and exports. A transnational company has a more complex structure.
I would go for a global company as this will give me operational flexibility due to its standard operations, systems, processes, practices, etc. in all locations. Also, we will be able to follow a standard marketing message in a global company. We don't need to develop separate policies for different locations. This way, we will have better control over operations all over the world.
