Question

(a) What bit position in the ASCII code must be complementedto change the ASCII letter represented from uppercase tolowercase? Is the answer: add 32 or binary 100000 to the ASCII characteran acceptable answer? I do not really understand what the questionmeans by "bit position" and "complemented"... b) What range of ASCII characters can be converted this wayfrom uppercase to lowercase? Again, i am confused by what this question is asking.. Is the answer: the range from A=65 to z = 122 an acceptableanswer? Thanks. Explanation / Answer

please rate - thanks upper case letters start at x'41' and end at x'5A'                                       0100 0001       0101 0001 upper case letters start at x'61' and end at x'7A'                                       0110 0001       0111 0001 by complement it means change 1 to 0 and 0 to 1, so youranswer to part a is correct. part b is confusing, but the only uppercase and lowercase lettersare x'41' (6510) to x'5A' (9010) andx'61'(9710) to x'7A'(12210).   X'5B' (9110) to x'5F' (9510) should not beincluded in the answer. otherwise I believe you are alsocorrect for part b
