Some thought leaders have predicted that one of the next areas of discrimination will be against the older worker as employees choose to stay on the job longer due to the fact that, among other things, people are living longer and few are prepared financially for what could be a 25 or 30-year retirement.

                  a. How might this sort of discrimination manifest itself in organizations?

                  b. How should organizations deal with discrimination against older workers?

Answer 1)Discrimination is the thing practiced in every where and so in the organization. Older people are also get discriminated ,even in early age of 45 also. According to survey in Australia approx 27% of the people aged around 50 year have experienced the age discrimination within the organization in recent days.

a) There are various ways of discrimination or say unequal treatment based on the age, these biased behavior manifests itself in the organization through different practices like harassment,exclusion from the work team, refusing to considered to work, negative job evaluations, turn down to promotion. Older people get pressure by their colleague many times to stop working so that the younger one would get in, without considering their experiences and their capabilities. They were also not get the same promotional or training opportunities as their younger colleagues get. Sometimes based on their physical abilities they get discriminated. Some surveys have also mentioned that in the interviews it has found they are not considered with well equipped to be assisted as they are older than the other colleagues. Research's finding older people are always reminded that they are over experienced,or over qualified to work for the particular job role that is indirectly saying that they are old enough to work that job. Over researches about two third of the people who gets retire have experienced age discrimination. Discrimination happening still in most of the organization and should not be practiced as the ways its happening and should be dealt with in a good way. Organization should do it as they were the asset of the organization for a long time worked for more than 20 years,and shouldbe considering strictly.

b) Discrimination againt older people are common but its really a worrying for them as they are about to be thrown out of the organization as they are exceeded the age to work in the organization. Various ways done to treat older employees to leave the job. But, organization should deal with discrimination against older worker in a different way. The older people should be asked to work on their network, talk and discuss with the younger ones and learn from them about the latest technologies and many things to be get updated. They should be offered services and asked to share their ideas as mentors or consultants which will be taken as serious manner and also get the consideration by the other younger employees. Older workers are less aware about the new things but if they get updated in their skills by the organization as what current scenario is. Getting them introduced to the latest technology ,rules and policies so that they help themselves from getting retired earlier. Organization should introduce their older employee with the Age Discrimination Act, so that they may use it to be treated well in the workplace. Ask older people to or convince to give the opportunity to other younger people but in a good way without hurting them.
