Team blue project was on Universal Collapsible Car seat. The main aim of the team project was to come up with a car seat that is able to offer protection from side impacts. The innovation was an answer to the long demand for seats that would accommodate babies comfortably while travelling. The combined efforts of the team members were very effective since desired results were achieved. One way in which the team’s dynamics contributed to success of implementing the business plan was that there were many approaches suggested by the team members which helped us pick on the best. The main challenge due to the team dynamics with regard to implementing the business plan was low creativity.
Both the model used to come up with the innovation and the one used to implement the idea was appropriate. The reason for this is that it emerged to be very effective. The strengths due to the model far much outweighed the weakness. What helped the team come up with an effective model was the fact that each team member was allowed to suggest his or her model. All the team members then discussed and analyzed each model. The best model from the team members’ analysis was picked. Also, the best ideas with regard to the project were combined into one idea in the implementation model.
The strength of the model was that it made implementation of the idea to be easier. The model was not complicated in terms of details. It was easier to understand. Another advantage of the model was that it encompassed health benefits. The model was to reduce cold related illnesses such as asthma and cold flu that regularly affect small babies. The team used the model as an ideal for study. We were able to correct the possible negative impacts that might be associated with the model.
The weakness of the model was that it mainly focused on small children. Small children will in most cases travel by their parents and will to remain in the seat for long. Children prefer having a personal touch with their parents. What this means is that the Universal Collapsible Car seat therefore will be seldom used. Also, the Universal Collapsible Car seats would have no use once the children become mature. This especially would apply to those parents that give birth to few numbers of children like one or two.
In my opinion, teamwork hinders innovative thinking. This is because of limited creativity as a result of prevalent group think. Not all people as I came to learn are compatible with others. There are individuals especially the introverted type that prefers working alone and in privacy. These types of individuals do less when in groups. There is also a likelihood of free riding by other members in a case where such members are not given enough opportunity to express themselves. Another thing that I learnt from the teamwork was that in a case where a member is to be replaced by another, there is always very little flexibility on the part of the new member.
