(a) Since the project is behind the schedule and only one type of testing is allowed, system testing can be preferred. System testing is a series of tests where the entire system is tested. Tests in the system testing ensure that all the elements are properly integrated and function well. System testing includes recovery testing, security testing, stress testing, performance testing, and deployment testing. As it covers all the main aspects and components of the system, in this situation where less time and cost are major concerns system testing can be performed. (b) From the test results, any errors or flaws in the system can be identified and to ensure quality they are to be rectified.
