2) Find an example of what you believe is an effective non-traditional advertising medium.

Explanation / Answer

1). To understand a unique way of utilizing internet advertising, let us take the example of Furlenco- the online furniture rental company. Furlenco is not only using the regular advertising methods like television advertising but is also completely technologically advanced as they have their website and app through which the orders can be placed.

Their unique method advertising being that they used social platforms like youtube and facebook. In today's world majority of the world's population are using youtube and facebook. Their advertisements play before the videos making sure most of the viewers go through it and anyone looking for furniture would be tilted towards going for furlenco due to their hassle-free procedure of getting the required furniture.

2) To understand a non- traditional advertising medium, let us take the example of Chinese Telecom giants Oppo and Vivo, they are spending millions of dollars in offline advertising techniques. They are ensuring they have the maximum number of banners across the country to ensure anybody on the roads, malls or practically anywhere can view these banners. They even have the advertising stickers on the railway metros, so that anyone traveling in the metros would also go through the advertisements, which could result in them being tilted to go for Oppo or Vivo phones. One more strategy noteworthy of Oppo and Vivo is the pricing of their products is extremely aggressive which is what is making most buyers tempted to go for their products.

3) In the first example of Furlenco, it is very clear that they are aggressively focusing on online advertising and hence using unique tools advertising on youtube. Hence, in future also they would continue with this strategy as they are an E-commerce company.

In the second example of Oppo and Vivo, they are clearly targeting offline advertising and hence they are using techniques like using banners and stickers to cover large areas. This coupled with aggressive pricing has ensured that they are reaching high sales numbers. Since this technique has proven to be highly effective for them, they would continue with the same in the future as well.
