Yes, it is very important to protect intellectual property. Use of my idea or innovation is my right and others should not use it without my permission. When the intellectual properties are not protected it leads to intellectual property theft where others steal the ideas and use it as their own. In the case of business when intellectual property rights are not protected it leads to many issues including business loss when other companies duplicate their products and logos. The competitors duplicate the product ideas and sell as their own to make profit. This would result in loss of revenue or slow growth in the business.

As the digital technologies become cheaper media piracy is growing day by day. I think the main reason for media piracy is the high price of the media products and the low price for digital technology. This difference makes people develop ways to access media cheaply. There are many campaigns going on regarding antipiracy but they are not effective and it is very difficult to identify pirates. As many people prefer pirated media at low price, it is very difficult for law to find them and punish them. As the government fails in their effort for controlling piracy, the supply of pirated goods is increasing. In my opinion it will be difficult to control piracy till the price of goods come down and get balanced with the people income and price of digital technology. The mentality of people will change when they get balanced and people will prefer using originals.
