Question
Need help with homework ?. Standing still for long periods of time decrease cardiacoutput because: A) venous return decreases due to lack of skeletal msusclepumping of veins, so stroke volume drops. B) too much lactic acide is produced so blood vessels dilateand blood pressure drops C) parasympathetic activity causes vasodilation or D) Heart rate falls too low to maintain cardiac output withoutpropioceptive input to the cardiovascular center Need help with homework ?. Cardiac output is the volume of blood pumped out per minute. It is measured, along with stroke volume, to measure how much blood goes out from the heart and into the body. Standing still causes a decrease in the return of blood because with no movement it is hard for the veins to pump the blood back upward. The blood pools in the veins and can cause edema and an increase in venous pressure. Due to the decrease in blood return the stroke volume also drops.
