Question

System Analysis Project Specifications For your final project, you are going to create a company using the information and skills you have learned in this class (you can also use what you have learned in other classes and life as well!) This final project is worth 100 points so MAKE SURE you complete all components thoroughly The objective of this project is for you to utilize your creativity and knowledge to expand your book learning into a concrete, real-world business that you could start. I am deliberately vague in some directions because I want to see you use the knowledge from this class and move it into application. If you have not read the text and completed the assignments along the way you will struggle with this project as it is a collimation of the learning from the semester These are the minimum elements that should appear in your formal written report: 1. Define a problem or opportunity that you are going to solve by creating your specific company Clearly, state exactly what the problem or opportunity is and why this is worth your time, energy and financial investment. (5 points) 2. Define the project or company you are going to create. (20 points) a. List the objectives of the project b. Determine the benefits of doing the project c. What areas of the business sector in your community will be affected by this new company and how will they be affected? d. What are the alternatives out in industry to the company you are creating? 3. Feasibility study (25 points) a. Is a solution available? b. Is the technology available? c. Will the technology be accepted by the users & how will training occur? d. Will the benefits outweigh the costs? 4. Determine the systems requirements (30 points) a) List of hardware, software & prices including consulting fees and other expenses b) Describe the data system - create a sample database for the business c) Create a data flow diagram of how your processes work d) Copy of a query & one report e Gantt Chart showing timeline of project f) Recommend how training will occur for employees if you are going to have employees. Make sure you justify your budget and need for additional employces. 5. Create a formal report including all of.thesc items. Make sure you are extremely detailed in your report and use sub-headings so I can easily read the report and see that you have covered all the areas. (30 points 6. Also, include any extras that might increase your company's value (web page, stationary, advertising flyer, or anything else that you can think of). Be detailed and provide a summary. (These tools can earn you up to 20 points in extra credit if done exceptionally well and in a professional manner) 7. Present your findings by submitting the formal written report to me. The report should be error free and done in a professional manner. Make sure you have checked grammar, typing and spelling errors

Explanation / Answer

1. The company I am looking at starting is a distribution company to ensure that the crop produced by the farmers is directly made available to the common man for purchase. The benefit will be that the farmers will be getting the best possible price and the common man will get best possible price.

2. Defining the project:

a. The objectives of the company will be to create a perfect infrastructure for the above said work.

b. The benefits of doing the project will be to serve the needy while earning in the process of it.

c. The common man will be effected for good and the retail business sector will be effected badly as the C & Fs, distributors and the dealers making money by creating margins will be losing their share.

d. Alternates in the industry right now are rythu-bazaars in Indian states (farmers markets) duly run by the governments.

3. Feasibility study:

a. Yes, the solution is available.

b. Yes, the technology too is available.

c. Since not much of technology is involved, it will be widely accepted by the users and need of training will be minimal.

d. No, the benefits will not overweigh the costs.

4. Determine the systems requirements:

a. One P.C. with M.S. office software and printer will be more than sufficient for a stall to complete the day in day out activity. The total cost towards the above purchases for one stall could be $ 400. And to implement the project in a state will 100 stalls will be approximately $ 40000.

b. The data system will be simple excel with the below mentioned details for which no much training is required for the employees or the freelancers who will be a part of the unique project:

Commodity received

Price of the commodity

Commodity sold

Price of the commodity

5. Formal Report:

In view of the increased middle men's involvement in the sale of goods produced by the farmers to the common man, I will incorporate a company which will nullify the middle men completely and the benefit is shared and enjoyed by both the farmers and the common men. My idea is to establish few small and medium sized stalls across the state depending on the population to purchase the crop and products from the farmers and sell it directly to the common men. In the process the farmers will get the best price to their products and the end customer will get the commodity at the best possible price. Since the technology involvement is minimal in the whole process, the cost towards the same will be less. However, the cost involved towards the infrastructure and necessary stationary apart from the cost on the manpower will have to be met by setting the margins on the commodities bought keeping in view the chances of the commodities being spoiled. To ensure the same proper refrigeration systems should be made available in the stalls. I spite of all the above costs incurred, I can assure to you that margin farmers can make will be 4 - 5 times to what they were making earlier, though the end customer (common man) will be getting the commodities at half the price he used to get in the earlier system. All this in spite of we getting 20 % profit to grow. So we can definitely go ahead with the project to establish the above said company with a website by the name www.farmerstalls.com. We can definitely advertise the same widely with minimal investment with benefits to all.
