can you be innovative and think of an idea that may provide a simple solution to a global problem?
Please define the problem
In the context of the widespread urbanization and degarding city life all around us, I would like to address, partially address the problem of urbanization and thus degrading life of the cities through an incentive structure for growing vegetation insted of concrete structures.
My solution briefly is to compare vegetation and natural resources as assets equivalent or more worth than that of other assets that people own.
and briefly describe your solution.
Now we invest in so many assets with the objective of growing the assets multifold, or generating constant returns in the form of dividends. We would consider real estate. We invest in a property so that the dividends in the form of rental income flow and the resale value of the property also increases. Now a real estate property is thought of as an asset. This asset is formed after clearing a patch of land of the natural vegetation in the cities.
My idea is to create a model whereby growing natural vegetation in your property also generates dividend. The model could have the local municipal doling out the incentives for the same and the same would be charged from individual properties, commercial properties who contribute to the environment adversely.
It can be thought of something similar to Carbon footprint but we are taking to the grass root level of individuals and not restrict it to enterprises. The model would encourage people to plant trees, shrubs, grow fruits and vegetables which would help the water table, air quality, atmospheric temperature etc for the cities.
The model could be made a part of every property owner’s Social profile, like a credit score. Apart from the regular income (at par with any other asset class that would have generated in the same area something similar to an opportunity cost), a high score would be viewed as a socially responsible individual and would give additional privileges (tax discounts, preference at government institutions etc) to the individual
