Database Objects and Their Functions In this assignment, you will study the various database objects and their functions. Based on your readings for the week and research on the Internet, complete the discussion on the following topics: •Databases can have various objects some of which are tables, queries, forms or views, and reports objects. Each of these has fields or columns. Describe the function of each of these objects and how fields or columns differ from one object to another. •Describe the different relationships that exist between tables, and provide real-world examples of how each of these might be used.
Explanation / Answer
Coming to functions of each objects:
tables: We store the data in form of tables... it may have n number of columns. Each column repersents each field. we can identify table data .. by choosing one of the column as the primary key.
Queries: Queries are the database language which are to manage the database operatoins like insert, update, delete etc...
forms or views: view is some part of databse (subset) which display in sorted particular way.
Report: It is data resulted from query which contains useful data for decision making and analysis.
We have 3 types of relationships...
one to one relationship: Each table primary key is associated between only one other primary key column of another table.
One to many relationship: One primary column is associated with more than one columns in another table.
many to many relationships: Here we have multiple columns reperesenting primary key and it is associated with more than one columns in another table.
Example of one to one relationship: student --> College
here one stuent belong to one college only.
Example of one to many relationship: student --> Subject
one student may have more than one subject
Example of many to many relationship: professor--> Department
each professor may belongs to one or more department and each department contains more than one processor.
