netdom.exe is very useful in working with computer names through which you can rename a computer set DNS suffix and join domain with using netdom.exe

like command currentname is current name of server and command newname is the name you want to change to.

netdom renamecomputer currentname /newname:newname

these above commands sets the DNS suffix that is why the currentname.domainname which is a qualified domain name and so domianname is a primary DNS suffix..
