Question
MIS 204 (Intro to business information system)
I am having difficulty understanding how to solve this question. Can someone please help? I will need the analyzed data in a spreadsheet and a writtent recommendation in a word document. Thank you.
The preliminary investigation of a software project has been completed. Two different project teams have estimated the costs associated with the development and maintenance of a new system. One team based their estimates on the assumption that the waterfall system development process would be used for the project; the other team plans to follow the agile approach. A third option is to purchase off-the-shelf software that provides nearly all the benefits of a custom-built solution. Review the estimates below, and choose the best approach for the project; waterfall development, agile development, or off-the-shelf software implementation. Provide a solid rational for your choice. Identify any assumptions you must make in reaching your decision.

Explanation / Answer
As per the spreadsheet suggest, it will more comfortable to go for “off the shelf software implementation techniques to fully use the system with a good custom built solution. If it is considered for waterfall and agile then it showing the annual savings compare to off the shelf software is more. But other factors are comparatively lower than off the shelf software like cost per effort and total effort. The most argument area is the software package price which is more in shelf software. But it will ease the process more quick and convenient to waterfall and agile. In waterfall and agile there are fewer chances to function effectively than shelf software, as the process of both is going to be developed. But it is known as off the shelf software that with this technique it will allow the company to give all benefits to anyone required for it. It is more uncertain for waterfall and agile to be implemented in the system and shelf software is a good choice as it is not uncertain it is technical qualities to work better. Maybe the annual savings of shelf software is less as compared to other two but it is a good way to holding the process to meet the software project completion and to sustain seamless business through it.
