Question
Consider the types of systems that benefit from DHCP reservations and/or from having manually-configured (static) IP addresses, including servers, networked printers, and other networked devices (e.g., network-connected HVAC controllers, IP camera systems). One option is to configure DHCP reservations and allow the devices to use DHCP to consistently get the same address; another option is to configure static addresses on the devices themselves and leave the addresses out of any DHCP scopes (or just to reserve them in DHCP). For the scenarios mentioned above (e.g., servers, networked printers, other similar networked devices), would you recommend static configuration on the devices or DHCP reservations? Why? Are some types of devices better suited to DHCP than others?

Explanation / Answer
No doubt There are two types pf Addressing Scheme used to assign the address to network devices i.e. Static and Dynamic. Static IP Is assigned with the help of Fixed IP address using TCP/IP Property of the netword device. Where as Dynamic Address is assigned by DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) Server from Windows Server. But as comparison DHCP Addressing Scheme is best instead of Ststaic IP. We know there is a feature in DHCP called IP Address Reservation Policy, Which reserve a specific address for specific device in stead of assigning (allocating) any address from the pool of addresses specified in DHCP Server. During the IP Reservation Policy DHCP server store the MAC Address of the device to assign a fix IP address to that device.
Using DHCP reservation Administrator can control every device from one place, becuase all the information of the device along with their information of IP allocation, a complete list of active reservations as well as active leases is available in one location. This is a major advantage, especially when you are tracking down particular clients or even reassigning new scopes.Where as it is required to maintain manually in case of Static IP Address.
Another Benfit is also there in case of DHCP reservation Policy, if any cilent machine configured with static IP, and due to some problem client machine get crupted, then it is required to mainrain by the Network Administrator individual device manually by list prepared by him.herself (manually), Where as no such kind of problems exist in DHCP reservation.
In last we can say that in such situations we can choose DHCP instead of Static IP Addressing .
