Identify five expansion cards and describe the function of each.
Explanation / Answer
I am currently using Windows 7, though I have had experiences with Mac OS and Linux (Ubuntu) also. Linux OS use GNU userland and are hence called "GNU/Linux". Mac OS is based on FreeBSD OS. Windows used to be based on FreeBSD but now it is built on Microsoft's .NT infrastructure. FreeBSD is not exactly Linux, but it can run Linux programs. Point to be noted is that Linux is a kernel and not an OS. Both Linux-based and BSD-based OS can run Windows-only software by a software called Wine.
Windows and Mac OS are closed source but FreeBSD and Linux are open source.
Windows and Mac OS are prone to viruses and exploits. They also send lists of installed programs to Microsoft and Apple. Linux-based OS are less prone to security compromises.
Common and trivial stuff like playing games, sending emails, browsing the internet can be done on all three of them.
