Domain name registration

IP address

Explanation / Answer

1)
DOMINE NAME REGISTRATION:

>Domain registration refers to the process of registering a domain name, which identifies one or more IP addresses with a name that is easier to remember and use in URLs to identify particular Web pages. The person or business that registers domain name is called the domain name registrant.
OR

>Domain name registration is the act of reserving a name on the Internet for a certain period, usually one year. It is important to know that this domain will remain yours for as long as you renew it and there is no way to purchase a domain name forever.
>Domain name registration is necessary for a web site, an email or another web service

Example:
www.some.college.edu
>It can be ccreated by the college or department that has registered (.edu)
>It does not need a separate entry in the registry because it is a four-part domain name

2)
IP ADDRESS:
>An IP address is a binary number that uniquely identifies computers and other devices on a TCP/IP network
OR
>An unique string of numbers separated by full stops that identifies each computer using the Internet Protocol to communicate over a network.

>Every machine on a network has a unique identifier. Just as you would address a letter to send in the mail, computers use the unique identifier to send data to specific computers on a network.
>There are two standards for IP addresses: IP Version 4 (IPv4) and IP Version 6 (IPv6). All computers with IP addresses have an IPv4 address, and many are starting to use the new IPv6 address system as well.

Example:
32.43.24.226.
The above ip-address is in the dotted decimal number format. An ip address is in the format of 4 sets of decimal numbers separated by dots. The decimal number in each and every set is in the range 0 to 255

3)
PRINCIPLES OF GOOD WEB DESIGN:
>Homepage should illustrate top priorities and variety
>Provide consistent navigation
>Design for the reader
>Keep graphics simple
>Use images of real members
>Include a Contact Us page
>Orient visitors in the site

4)
HTML VS CSS

HTML
HTMLis used to create the actual content of the page, this means in HTML you define the basic structure and the contents of a website.
Example:
HTML is responsible for the text written there, and the structure i.e there willl be one header block, one navigation block and many content blocks on the bottom

CSS
CSS is responsible for the Design of the Webpage, how every thing looks and where it is on the page.
Example:
CSS Responsible for the text being in a some color, the navigation being some color, the text fields having round edges, and all the other stuff that is designed specificly for the website.
