Help for activities C, E, F as well as the total crashing cost Problem 3.28 Question Help Activity Duration (weeks) Precedes Crash Cost/Week A (start) $380 $120 $220 $160 $450 B, C F(end) Suppose that Rafay is only given 7 weeks (instead of 10) to complete the project. By how many weeks should each activity be crashed in order to meet the deadline? Assume that you can crash an activity down to 0 weeks duration. Each Activity Should be Reduced BY Activity weeks) 0 week(s) B 2 week(s) Enter your answer in the answer box and then click Check Answer.
Explanation / Answer
The possible paths and their cumulative durations as follows :
Path A-B-E-F = 33 + 22 + 22 + 22 = 99 weeks
Path A-C-F = 33 + 66 + 22 = 121 weeks
Since path A-C-F is of longer duration , it forms the critical path its duration is same as project duration
Therefore normal project duration = 121 weeks
The Question to be answered ( as given in BOX ) is by how many weeks activity A needs to be crashed.
It is given that the project needs be crashed to 88 weeks
Hence total number of weeks to be crashed = 121 – 88 = 33 weeks
Therefore Project A having Normal duration of 33 weeks needs to be crashed by 33 weeks
Activity
To be reduced by
A
33 weeks
